Our 4 Days Birding & Gorilla Trek will take you to the best birding watching spot in Entebbe and gorilla trekking in Bwindi National Park which is found in western Uganda in Kisoro District. The 4 Days Birding & Gorilla Trek gives you chance to spot birds in a whole day within the swamp of Mabamba. Besides birding, 4 Days Birding & Gorilla Trek gives you the opportunity to trek one of the 20 habituated mountain gorilla families in Bwindi National Park. Our 4 Days Birding & Gorilla Trek begins and ends in Entebbe/Kampala.
Day 1: Birding in Mabamba
After early morning breakfast, you embark on the drive from your place of stay in Kampala/Entebbe to Mabamba Swamp around 50km from Kampala the capital of Uganda. The drive to Mabamba is an experience of its own offering chances of exploring various bird species like Papyrus Gonolek, White Shouldered Tit, Red Cap, Western Banded Snake Eagle, White Winged Warbler, White Spotted Flufftail, and Weyns Weaver. Upon arrival in Mabamba Swamp, you get to the canoe and head to the swamp in the company of a local person worth expertise in paddling through the narrow water channels surrounded by dense swamp vegetation. Birding in Uganda`s Mabamba on Lake Victoria swamp features counts of birds including the rare and the Vulnerable Shoebill stork, the Allen’s and Purple Gallinule, Grey herons, Jacanas, Ruffaus Squaco, the globally threatened Pallid Harrier and Bellied Heron. Other species like blue swallow, ducks and egrets among other birds can be explored. The swamp dwelling Sitatunga antelope may be explored during the swamp tour. You will retreat from the experience and drive back.

Day 2: Travel to Bwindi National Park (Travel Time +8 hours)
Depart from the hotel for your second day of 4 Days Birding & Gorilla Trek which takes about an 8-hour drive. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is located in southwestern Uganda along with Kisoro District. The journey is quite a long drive but worth it because you get to enjoy the countryside scenery, passing through Lake Mburo National Park and you will have an en-route stopover at the Equator crossing for the photographic and simple experiments before continuing to Mbarara town for Lunch. After lunch will embark on your scenic drive to Bwindi National Park where you will spot some of the most beautiful nature images all the way to the Virunga massive. Keep your cameras near to capture that beautiful moment.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi National Park
After early morning breakfast, you will drive to the Park headquarters for registration and join others for a gorilla trekking briefing about the dos and the don’ts during your Uganda Gorilla trekking safari tour. Once this is done, you will trek through the thick forest with your guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you from half an hour to six hours. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. On your trek, you are likely to spot other primates, birds, and rare tree species. After finding the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them before trekking back to the Park headquarter. Thereafter you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and thus contributing to the conservation of mountain gorillas.
Later in the afternoon, you will take a village walk which will offer you a great chance to see how the people surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The walk begins with your tour guide at Buhoma Community Rest Camp and who is resourceful about the community, the walk is worthwhile. It will amaze you how resourceful the local people are as you see and learn their ways and is also a great way to support the local community in a direct way.

Day 4: Drive to Kampala/Entebbe Airport (Travel Time +8 hours)
After your morning breakfast, you will be driven to Kampala/Entebbe, you will have an en-route stopover at Igongo culture center to explore the culture of the Ankole region and then embark on the drive to Kampala/Entebbe Airport.
